And In This Corner...the Avengers!, script by Roy Thomas, art by Herb Trimpe; Underground the Green Goliath is trekking towards the San Andreas Fault!; and Thunderbolt Ross fears that the powerful behemoth could accidentally trigger a catastrophic earthquake in California; so the esteemed general calls for help from Earth's Mightiest Heroes; The Avengers link up with General Ross, Colonel Talbot, and Betty just west of the Rockies to set a trap for their gamma-radiated guest; The Vision descends through the solid rock to lure the Hulk to the surface, and then the Avengers attack en masse; The Incredible Hulk vs. the Mighty Avengers; An epic encounter to save the Western United States; Flashback cameos by Loki, Ant-Man, Iron Man, Thor, and the Wasp; Avengers Lineup: Black Panther, Goliath, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and the Vision. Notes: The Avengers appear in this story in-between issues 76 and 77 of their own title. This issue features a nifty full-page panel (page 16) of all five avengers battling the Hulk. This issue also includes a half-page survey for readers to complete and mail back to the Marvel bullpen. This story was reprinted in Marvel Super-Heroes 80. 36 pgs. $0.15.
