For your consideration is a stoneware packing jar with a wood and wire bail.  I poured one quart of tap water into it and the water came to approximately 1/4 of inch below the ledge the lid sits on.  I do not know the identity of the manufacturer.  Several companies manufactured bailed packing jars from around 1900 until around 1930.  The stoneware portion has a height of approximately 5 7/8" and the bottom has a diameter of approximately 4 1/4".  The lid has a diameter of approximately 2 3/4".

This bailed packing jar is an old item, that was used.  The jar itself and the lid each have a crack that was caused by the item being fired in the kiln before the clay was completely dry.  Also, the inner ledge (for the lid) has a chip that was glazed over.  The lid has one small chip and one larger chip, that is glazed over.  The jar and the lid both have crazing and need to be properly cleaned.  I am very skeptical about the wood and wire being original, however it was on the jar when I bought it and it is identical to the one that came from the factory.  Please, carefully examine the pictures, as the pictures are part of the description.
