In the late 20's Mob Boss John 
Torrio bought the Malt-Maid
Brewery and then passed the 
control of the brewery onto 
Al Capone.  Al Capone changed
the name to the Manhattan Brewing
Co.  Under Capone, it became the 
largest brewery in Chicago.  This
crate is dated between the 1920's
to the mid 30's.

This is from an estate of an avid
Mafia/gangster collector.  This 
crate comes with a description
of how the previous owner came 
into possession of the crate (last 
image is the description). This
is included in the auction. 
Crate measures: 18 1/4" x 12" x 9.5".
It is a 24-12 ounce size beer crate.  
The 18 1/4" sides are stamped in black:
