Hello and welcome to another of my listings!! Today for your consideration is this rare, large size, 14k gold, Military Order Of Loyal Legion (MOLLUS). Number "11585 and 18655" engraved on the obverse of loop suspension. Comes with box but not original to this medal. Excellent condition but top bar needs to be reattached. Please check detailed pictures because they can describe item condition better then I can. One cent coin was placed for size comparison. Total medal weight is 12.9 grams. Size: approximately 3 1/4" tall and 1 1/2" wide. Buy it now or best offer. Great medal that would be a great addition to any collection. Thank you for looking. Myself being a life member and the immediate past Registrar-in-Chief of the Loyal Legion, that number is not one number but two separate numbers. Most likely passed from father to son. These membership medals are still being issued to members. MOLLUS was originally formed by officers and then opened as a hereditary group to anyone with a Civil War officer ancestor.

I looked the numbers up on the membership roster:
#11585 belonged to Walter Allen, Act Asst Paymaster USN. He was a member of the MA state commandery.
# 18655 is too high of a number chronologically to have been a Civil War officer so most likely his son. This is a very nice medal bc it belonged to the Asst Paymaster of USN and it’s quite rare to have 2 #’s."
