I have here for sale a book entitled CHINA YESTERDAY AND TO-DAY by Edward Thomas Williams.  It is a first edition published by Thomas Y Crowell, New York in 1923.  It covers all aspects of Chinese life past and present - the beginnings of China, the family, marriage and status of women, farming, craftsmen, guilds, the calendar and festivals, Confucius and his teachings, Buddhism, Taoism, foreign intercourse, opening of overseas trade, General Ward, Burlingame and oriental immigration, spheres of interest, the era of reform, setting up of a republic, the struggle for democracy, modern foreign trade.  It is illustrated with a colour map tucked into a pouch accessed from the outside of the rear board, as well as 32 b/w photographic illustrations arranged over 17 plates.

Dark green hardboards with gilt title lettering to the front and spine.  Bumped to head and tail and to some of the corners.  A few small white marks to the front board and one to the rear board.  Tanning to free endpapers and ownership embossed stamp to front one.  Pages clean throughout.  Binding tight.  Very good condition.  613 pages, 21 x 14 cm.

We wrap and post the parcels on Monday and Tuesday - therefore if you pay before midday on Tuesday we will get it in the postal sacks on Tuesday night, and if it is after that time then it will go into the postal service on the following Monday.
