I have here for sale a book entitled THE BRITISH FLORA; comprising the Phaenogamous, or Flowering Plants and the Ferns by William Jackson Hooker.  It is a 2nd edition with additions and corrections published in 1831 by Longman Rees Orme Brown and Green, London.  The object of publishing this book was 'firstly to provide the Student with a description of our native plants, arranged according to the simplest method; and secondly to afford the more experience Botanist, a manual, that should be useful in the field as well as in the closet.  The plants are presented according the Linnaean Method.

Dark green half leather on brown marbled hardboards.  Gilt bands and lettering to the spine.  Spine and board edges heavily scuffed.  Slight tear to the marbled paper on the front board.  Boards firm.  One or two pages with some foxing but the vast majority are clean.  Binding tight.  479 pages, 22 x 13 cm.
