Vivitar was one of the top independent lens brands, and this is an extremely wide range zoom for Pentax K, M, KA, Ricoh KR, XR and many other PK manual focus 35mm film SLR cameras. It also works on most Pentax AF and digital SLRs (with manual focusing and other restrictions). The lens is in fully working order and good used condition, supplied with lens caps and instructions. The extremely useful zoom range covers 28mm and 35mm wide angle, 50mm standard, 70mm portrait to 135mm and 210mm telephoto, plus of course all the focal lengths in between. On Pentax and Samsung APS-C digital SLRs (see below) the field of view is equivalent to around 43-320mm, giving extra telephoto power and magnification. The one touch zoom and focus control is large with a textured rubber grip for fast, secure handling.

Macro (close focus) facility which gives a respectable reproduction ratio of 1:4 (one quarter life size) at 210mm. Normal focusing down to 2.5m (8ft) at all focal lengths. Comprehensive markings include distances in feet and meters, plus infrared index and depth of field scales. This is a manual focus lens, but works on many AF and digital cameras with electronic focus confirmation. Maximum aperture is f/3.5-5.6 closing down to f/22-32 in full stops. Automatic diaphragm and full aperture metering, compatible with all auto and manual exposure modes. Locking A (Auto) setting for shutter priority and program modes on suitable cameras (see below).

Multicoated (MC) glass for reduced flare and light loss with increased contrast. Standard 72mm filter thread. The lens is quite compact for its range at only around 115mm (4.5") long at its smallest setting, up to 75mm (3") in diameter and weighs only 545g (19.2oz) without accessories. This Vivitar 28-210mm f/3.5-5.6 MC Macro Focusing Zoom PK-A/R lens is nicely made (in Japan) with metal lens mount, a high standard of fit and finish, plus smooth, positive controls and clear markings in multiple colours.

A really useful superzoom lens for Pentax, Ricoh, Vivitar, Chinon and many other SLR cameras.

Compatibility

This lens is Pentax KA and Ricoh (PKA/R) fitting with electrical and mechanical connections for many film or digital SLR cameras, as follows:

It fits manual focus bayonet mount Pentax 35mm film SLR cameras including the K series, M series, A series, P series, MZ-M and others. It fits all Ricoh K-mount cameras including the KR and XR series. In both cases, the mechanical and electronic connections are included for auto diaphragm, full aperture metering and all exposure and metering modes including multi-pattern, program and shutter priority where available. The lens also fits numerous Chinons (with program modes on the CP series), Cosinas, Vivitars and a huge variety of other cameras using the popular PK lens mount, with auto diaphragm and full aperture metering, compatible with aperture priority auto and manual exposure modes.

It works with manual focusing on Pentax AF SLR cameras including the SF series, Z series and most MZ series*, the *ist series and K series digital SLRs plus the K-01 mirrorless. It's equally suitable for the Pentax-based Samsung GX-1S, GX-1L, GX-10 and GX-20 cameras, but not any other Samsung models. Auto diaphragm and full aperture metering, compatible with all exposure and metering modes, and manual focusing only. The Shake Reduction (SR) and OPS (Optical Picture Stabilization) IBIS features work to reduce camera shake at slow shutter speeds on suitable digital cameras, with focal lengths set manually.

*The exception is the Pentax MZ-60 (ZX-60) which will NOT work at all with most manual focus lenses and accessories.

Adaptable to other cameras
With a suitable adapter (not included) PKA/R lenses can be used on Canon EOS (APS-C only), EOS M and R, Fujifilm X, Leica CL (2017), SL, T and TL, Nikon Z, Olympus and Panasonic Micro Four Thirds, Panasonic S, Pentax Q, Ricoh GXR Mount A12, Samsung NX, Sigma fp, Sony NEX or E-Mount mirrorless digital compact system cameras, with manual focusing and diaphragm, compatible with manual and aperture priority auto exposure modes, using stopped down metering.

NOTE: Some PKA/R lenses don't fit Pentax AF or digital SLR cameras, as protrusions at the rear can foul the power zoom contacts or other features inside the mount, and/or the Ricoh pin may jam in the hole for the AF coupler. We've checked this lens on our Pentax AF and Samsung digital cameras, and it fits and works fine.
