For a long time in Japan, the HO scale, which uses 1:80 scale and 16.5mm gauge tracks, was the mainstream.

However, there were a great many enthusiasts who questioned that these were not HO scale because the actual scale of HO scale is 1:87.

The standard gauge of actual Japanese railroads is 1067 mm, so the gauge would be 12 mm for HO scale.

This led Japanese model railroad manufacturers to begin producing model trains in 12mm gauge.

HOj gauge or HO1067 gauge or HOn3-1/2 gauge is the standard name for 1:87 scale, 12 mm gauge, Japanese conventional (1067 mm gauge) model trains.

They are treated in the same standard as the HOm gauge released by Ferro-Suisse, Lemaco and Bemo.

Choshi Electric Railway Class Deha-100 Deha-101 was built in 1939 by Nihon Tetsudo Sharyo Kogyo (now TOYOKOUKI Co., Ltd.).

It was originally named Hodeha-101 and the first bogie railcar of Choshi Electric Railway, with an overall length of less than 11 m. (The bogies were made in 1926, and the narrow gauge railcar bogies were converted to 1067 mm gauge.)

It was converted from a semi-steel body to a steel body in 1953, and the current collector was replaced from a trolley pole to a bow-collector in 1966.

Since the car body was small, it had few opportunities to operate, and with the arrival of its successor, it became a standby car.

After retiring in 1999, it was used as a storage shed at Kasagamikurohae Station, but was dismantled in September 2009 due to its decrepit condition.

After dismantling, one of the bogies was donated to Jomo Electric Railway and stored at the rolling stock depot adjacent to Ogo Station, and the other was stored at the Tobu Museum.
