This lovely and interesting papier mache lacquered box is a product of Ernabella Arts of Australia. Ernabella Arts is a cross cultural project between the aboriginal and indigenous peoples of Australia dedicated to the preservation of their native art. The lacquered box is hand painted. The design on the lid of the box is owned by Tjankaya Tapaya, one of the oldest living aboriginal artists in Australia. The design features a dot pattern typical of the Australian Aboriginal peoples. All surfaces are finished with a shiny lacquer. The box is in excellent condition. The base of the box has a paper label with information about Ernabella Arts and has a picture of Tjankaya Tapaya. The box has rounded corners and a slightly domed lid. It measures 3 3/4 by 2 7/8 x about 2 3/4 inches tall. This is a wonderful addition to a collection or for use on your dresser.
