An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique Victorian English sterling silver owl mustard pot; an addition to our collectable owl silverware collection
DescriptionThis exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver mustard pot has been realistically modelled in the form of an owl/owlet.
This impressive antique silver mustard pot is embellished with decoration reproducing the details of the bird's plumage and anatomical features.
This fine mustard pot is fitted with a hinged cover/head, further ornamented with the original bead eyes.
The cover opens to reveal an original hallmarked silver liner and gilded interior; it is a fine feature and rare to locate a mustard pot with the original hallmarked silver liner.
The original cast silver spoon has a plain rounded form and mouse decorated terminal.
The protruding beak to the cover comprises a functional thumbpiece and allows the handle terminal to sit securely to one side.
ConditionThis antique sterling silver owl mustard pot with spoon is an excellent gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of the body, in addition to part hallmarks to the cover and liner are all very clear; the hallmarks have been deeply struck within the decoration due to the excellent gauge of silver.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this antique condiment container.
