ANTIQUE SILVER TOPPED CUT GLASS DRESSING TABLE POWDER BOWL.

This is a round Art Deco cut glass dressing table or powder bowl of a squat form with a sterling silver slightly domed cover or lid. The lid is engine turned and the rim is well hallmarked. The bowl is finely cut lead crystal with the underside having a large star cut. The sterling silver lid was made by the renowned Sheffield Silversmith and is hallmarked Sheffield with the date for 1931. Knock to the silver rim (See below).

Height to top of glass jar - 4.3 cm. (1.7 inch.).

Max. Diameter of bowl - approx. 10.7 cm. (4.2 inch.).

Internal diameter of top rim - 6.0 cm. (2.4 inch.).

Max. Diameter of silver lid  - 8.0 cm. (3.1 inch.).

Weight:

Silver Lid - 28.3 grams.

Silver Lid + Glass Bowl - 337.2 grams.

MarksHallmarked around the rim with the Lion PassantSheffield Crown and the Date Letter 'o' for the Year 1931. Alongside in an elaborated squeezed rectangle is the silversmith's mark 'W & H'  for Walker & Hall.

Condition: Very Good. The lid has been 'squashed' from above at one point of the side leaving the overhanging lip at that point slightly lower than the rest of the lid 's rim. (Please see photographs).
