Background:

Kansas and Nebraska Overprint Stamps – Only Sold for One Year
Post Office hold-ups were common in Kansas and Nebraska during the 1920s. Robbers stole stamps and took them to other states to sell!  In 1929, overprinted stamps were experimented with in hopes of making it more difficult for stolen stamps to be sold. However, unaware postal workers often refused the overprints as valid postage.  The public complained, and once the existing supply was used, the trial program was stopped.

One in a series of CLASSIC 19th - 20th Century U.S. postal issues to be listed this month on E-Bay. Includes Complete Sets and Plate Number Singles and Blocks.
