African wooden mask. PUNU-Lumbo A Punu-Lumbo mask is a tribal mask originating from the Ogooue River basin in Gabon, particularly in the south of Ngounie province. The masks are Punu masks representing the faces of idealized female ancestors. The mask is genderless; white is a symbol of peace, deities, spirits of the dead and the afterlife. The masks are usually oval in shape, with narrowed eyes, arched eyebrows and small ears. Male dancers are known to wear the mask while dancing.
