This is a vintage 1949 Gibson BR 9 amplifier in outstanding condition with its original cover in great shape too, a bit faded but very nice. This has the original field coil speaker which I believe was made by Jenson and sounding greAT. The output transformer is also original as well as most of the parts. I do believe some caps/filter caps/thingamajigs were replaced some time back, when I had a top shelf amp guy go through it and bring it into an original state. This one is from the very first year of manufacture as this was the only year with this cool and futuristic plastic grill cover. A vintage 1949 Gibson BR-9 tube combo amp that features a simple one-knob format and a great clean tone. With its low-gain, single-pentode preamp, the amp stays clean up to '10' with most single coil pickups. A little grit is available with higher output pickups. The preamp feeds a two single-ended parallel 6V6s, running in class A for plenty of warm harmonics. This amp is great for practice or low-volume recording. It has been cleaned and serviced, with brand new power supply added is a three prog cord. It is fully functional and sounds awesome.
