How does orthosis work?
The secret of the AirLOC® action is simple: two thin, but fairly rigid anatomical plates are interconnected by a flexible “bridge” and are conveniently attached to the leg using straps. This design allows Airloc® to be easy to adapt to the shape of the leg and effectively maintain an ankle joint. All the details of the orthosis are very thin, and this allows you to wear it with almost any shoes.
On the internal surfaces of the plates, adjustable air pillows are installed. They allow him to adapt even to the changed edema of the ankle joint, without causing discomfort. Air pillows also reduce tissue edema in the joint area, since when moving, they have a soft massive effect on it. The air pressure in the pillows is created and regulated using a manual “pear” pump through the valve at the top of the orthosis.
When wearing, only the rotational movements of the foot are limited - supination and pronation.
The flexion and extension of the foot is preserved, that is, it is possible to move the foot from the heel to the toe. Therefore, you can go freely in Airloc®.
Since the Airlock® plates are connected to each other with a flexible “bridge”, the greatest stabilization of the joint is achieved when wearing an orthosis in shoes, it enhances its effect. However, if necessary, Airlock® can be worn without shoes, for example, at home. Its stabilizing effect even without shoes remains quite high.
Airloc® is used for:
- fresh injuries of the ligamentous apparatus of the ankle joint, accompanied by severe edema - easily adapts to the deformed joint, reduces swelling due to a soft massaging effect,
- rehabilitation after surgical interventions - in a state of edema of the ankle joint,
- chronic weakness of ligaments - to stabilize the joint,
- prevention of re -injury of the ankle joint.
