This is an independent adapter to use many M42 screw thread lenses on most Canon FD, FL and Canonflex 35mm film manual focus SLR cameras, including classic models such as the F-1 series, FTb, AE-1, A-1, T70 and T90, FT, Pellix, R2000 and RM. This adapter is NOT suitable for Canon EOS film/digital, EX and EF-M cameras, or the T50. It's in good used condition, supplied with instructions and rear cap. Please read the full description for more important information.

With this adapter you have access to a huge range of lenses at very reasonable prices. The M42 mount was used on many cameras including Pentax, Praktica, Chinon, Cosina, Ricoh, Yashica, Edixa, Petri, Zenith, Carena and many others, and M42 lenses were also made by most independent manufacturers. This description is copyright © Heritage Cameras. M42 lenses are used with manual diaphragm and stopped down metering (where available), compatible with manual and aperture priority modes on appropriate models.

You can either fit the adapter to the lens first (and change it just like a breech lock lens), or to the camera (and screw lenses into it). It accepts most M42 lenses including those with manual, preset, semi-automatic or auto/manual diaphragms. Lenses with auto diaphragm only (no manual switch) will only work at full aperture, as there's no way of stopping down. Please note that M42 adapters are NOT suitable for some lenses with full aperture metering (see the Compatibility section below). Some other lenses with features that protrude beyond the rear mount may also not be compatible.

This independent CF-P adapter is very solidly made (in Japan) from chrome plated brass and black anodised aluminium, measures around 7.5mm (0.3") thick, 63mm (2.5") in diameter and weighs just 60g (2.1oz).

An essential accessory for Canon manual focus and M42 users.

Compatibility

This adapter fits most Canon FD manual focus 35mm SLR cameras including the F-1, F-1n, F-1N, FTb, FTbN, EF, TLb, TX, AE-1, AT-1, A-1, AV-1, AE-1 Program, AL-1, T60, T70, T80 and T90. It also fits the earlier FL models including the FT, FP, FX, TL, Pellix and others, plus the Canonflex, RP, R2000 and RM.

Manual lenses and accessories are not really suitable for the Canon T50 as this camera can't set shutter speeds manually, though they can be used at a fixed speed of 1/60th. FD lenses and accessories do NOT fit the autofocus EOS film and digital cameras, the EF-M, EX-EE or EX-Auto, or any other make/model.

The adapter accepts most M42 screw lenses including those with manual, preset, semi-automatic or auto/manual diaphragms. Lenses with auto diaphragm only (no manual switch) will only work at full aperture, as there's no way of stopping down.

Please note that adapters like this are NOT suitable for some M42 lenses with full aperture metering such as Mamiya Sekor SX for the MSX/DSX, EBC Fujinons for the Fujica ST/AZ, Voigtlander VSL TM, Olympus Zuiko for the FTL, Rikenon EE for the Ricoh TLS-EE, etc. The meter coupling levers foul on the adapter and the lens cannot be screwed fully home. Pentax SMC (Super Multi Coated) Takumar M42 lenses do fit and work fine (the auto/manual switch should be set to manual after fitting the lens to the adapter). Praktica Electric M42 lenses (with electrical contacts for full aperture metering) are usable, as long as they have a manual switch. Some other lenses with features that protrude beyond the rear mount may also not be compatible.
