pre-WWI Era US Army .38 DA Regulation Revolver Leather Belt Holster - 2nd Type - Fair Condition

Up for sale is pre-WWI Era US Army .38 DA Regulation Revolver Leather Belt Holster.  This is a vintage old military belt holster.  The leather is fairly stiff, but is still pliable.  It shows some wrinkling and surface cracking on the leather, see photos.   There is tear on the corner of the belt loop, see photo.  No other rips or tears.  The seams are all intact, no fraying.  The retention stud for the flap has evidence of a repair. The holster still has the end cap.  This is an early version that never had the brass lanyard loop.  There is a faint unit number stamped on the flap, looks like a number "5", see photos.  It has a faint US oval logo on the front.  There are no other visible marking on the holster.  This holster is used, please see photos for details and condition.  This holster is not suitable for actual usage, forcing a revolver into the holster will probably splint the seam along the edge of the holster.   There are no returns, if you do this.

The 2nd pattern holsters were made between 1896 and 1902.

This holster was designed for "Butt Forward" carry, it is NOT a left hand holster.  It is carried on the right side, with the butt of the revolver facing forward.

A Fair Condition Authentic example of a 120+ year old holster for your pre-WWI Collection.
