1707 Queen Anne 1ed Memoirs
of England MAPS Abel Boyer Parliament Politics Wars
Abel Boyer was a 17th-century
English historian who is regularly remembered for his account of the life and
reign of Queen Anne of England. It was in his ‘History of Queen Anne’ that he describes proceedings in British
Parliament, royal speeches, as well as political debates. This 1707 ‘anonymous’
edition is still credited to Boyer; however, according to the ESTC it was
edited and collected by an author simply named Gibson. This work is without
question one of the best 18th-century examples of biographies of
Queen Anne, especially considering the inclusion of commentary on the
political and diplomatic state of England from the Reformation through the
fifth year of Anne’s reign, 1707.
