This is an incredible example of this art. The repousse silver work is bar none. It tests to be solid silver, and has the telltale squiggle mark an assay office would have used to test the quality of the goods. It is 14” long, 10” wide, 1” deep. Total silver weight is 17.9 troy ounces or 556.7 grams. Quite a lot. The velvet looks very dark in the photos, but in person it is in fact a deep royal blue. Unfortunately this is in pieces, though the pieces aren’t in terrible condition. . The nails that once held the silver to the wooden backer are gone. The mirror is gone. However, for display purposes, it would be fairly simply to reattach the silver with some little nails, as undoubtedly was once the case, and hang it on the wall or prop it on a plate stand. You can see the holes where they were in the centers of the roses. Please know I’ve taken the condition into consideration in my price. The workmanship on the silver pieces of this mirror are truly incredible, and I’m not seeing anything even close to this quality anywhere.
