I have here for sale a scarce book entitled THE STARS IN THEIR COURSES A Two-Fold Series of Maps with a Catalogue, showing how to identify, at any time of the year, all stars down to the 5.6 mag inclusive of heis, which are clearly visible in English latitudes by Thomas Sebastian Bazley.  It is a first edition published by Trubner & Co, London in 1878.  24 double page plates showing the position of the stars at different times in different locations.   There is also a loose fold-out sheet of tissue paper showing the points of the compass which I assume you overlay on each plate.  The plates are preceded by a catalogue of 1,558 stars in table form and an Introduction by the author.

Mid blue hardboards with gilt border and gilt lettering to the centre of the front board and to the spine.  Some damp stains to the front board.  Corners and head and tail of spine are worn.  Bookplate to front endpaper.  Foxing to endpapers and to first couple of pages, all others clean and binding firm throughout.  44 x 29 cm.
