I have here for sale a book entitled ENGLISH BOTANY by John Sowerby, Vol IV.  There is no title page but it is not a first edition as it is bound differently, so I have estimated an approximate date of around 1880.  Important thing here is there are 47 colour plates of plants/flowers with accompanying text covering the Orders Lythraceae, Onagraceae, Cucurbitaceae, Grossulariaceae, and Crassulaceae.  They are paginated in a strange order but I have:

Plates 517-525 (9); Plates 528-531 (4); Plates 497, 494, 491-3 (5); Plates 532-33 (2); Plates 535-543 (9); Plates 498-501 (4); and Plates 503-516 (14).

So in summary, I have 491-494, 497-501, 503-525, and 528-533 and 535-543.  So Plates 495, 496, 502, 526, 527, and 534 are missing from the sequence.

Bound in full green textured hardboards with blind stamped lines to corners and to joints.  Gilt lettering to the spine.  Light foxing to a few of the text pages, all plates seem clean.  Binding tight.  Boards in fine condition.  48 pages of text, 47 plates.  25.5 x 17 cm.
