I have here for sale a beautifully illustrated book entitled THE STONES OF ITALY written and illustrated by C T G Formilli.  It is a first edition published by A & C Black in 1927.  32 colour plates with captions underneath.  The book covers Rome, Genoa, Viterbo, Terracina, Cori, Subiaco, Affile, Alatri, Naples, Bologna, Verona, Venice and Milan.  There is a b/w map on the first page.  This is a travelogue round Italy, but focusing mostly on the colours and textures of the stones against a backdrop of blue skies and verdant life.

Grey hardboards with black illustration to front and spine.  Black title lettering to the front board and gilt lettering to the spine.  Boards in fine condition.  Ink inscription to the front endpaper.  Foxing to the half title, title, contents and illustration list pages and to the flyleaf.  Spotting to page edges.  Binding tight.  247 pages including index.  23 x 17 cm.
