Vintage circa 1970-80's Solomon Islands canoe prow head NGUZU-NGUZU figure, is hand carved in hard wood as a stylized head with arms beneath and the hands holding a smaller possibly monkey head.  The piece has mother of pearl shell eyes and cheek decoration, possibly to represent scarification markings.  These later pieces were produced for the tourist trade and therefore are produced slightly smaller than the original canoe prows might have been, and they do not have fixing holes at the back.

It is in good condition with no damage or repair, it does have discolouration, staining and bleaching (patination) to the surfaces conducive with its age (please see photos).

Height 10 cm, 4" inches.
Unpacked weight 91 grams.
