This attractive, gray, 1-Piastre, Egyptian postal stationery envelope((in fine-very fine condition with an intact back flap(w/small tears in it), and some very minor stains here and there on either side)) was sent from Bab El Khalq(two, pretty fine CDSs), Egypt, to Professor Felix von Luschan, Director of Museums of Volkerkunde(Volkerkundemuseum in German; Ethnological Museum in English), Berlin, Germany, on February 5, 1907! It arrived in Berlin(a pretty great strike of the CDS!) on February 12, 1907, after going through the Cairo(Central) P.O. on 2/5/07. Interestingly, there is an actual, scientific scale for classifying human skin colors, the von Luschan chromatic scale! He was quite an accomplished ethnologist, archaeologist, anthropologist, and explorer of his age.
