This is a 1950’s David Bogen Challenger MX6 tube preamp/mixer. It has been lightly modified to function in today’s environment.

It has 2 brand new JJ 12ax7’s and 1 old stock GE 12at7. It also has a grounded power cable.

Mic 1 through Mic 4 are input channels, while Phono 1 and Phono 2 are now outputs which both output all 4 channels. Having 2 outputs increases the versatility of the unit.

I really like the versatility of this preamp mixer because you can get tube quality sounds from it without having to plug it into a speaker cab or load. The sounds go anywhere from clean to fairly dirty as it has a fair bit of tube breakup if you choose to use it that way. But the other great part about it is its 4 channels with independent volumes for functionality as a mixer as well. It’s 50’s technology, made in America at its finest. This one was built to last.

It is in great working condition, and there is uniformity amongst the channels. It has some minor cosmetic wear.

It needs a good home and to be used, it’s too cool to sit around.
