A late 19th century French bronze ink stand on an antico rosso marble base. The bronze is formed with naturalistic leaves and berries with branches flowing around the outside. It matches nicely with the mellow tones in the marble.
The inkwell lid is hinged and there is a glass liner internally. The bronze has a signature to the front right, it is somewhat indistinct but could be M Bonnot for Marcel Bonnot who was known for Art Deco period sculptures for car mascots.
Condition
Good for period, minor chips around the edges of the marble. Some rubbing of the high points on the bronze as expected for a working item of the period. Intentional and original hole in the marble base edge with metal pin inserted, possibly a fixing point. See images for overall look.
