Fender Jazzmaster, dating from 1964-65 with original hard case.

Previously owned by an uncredited session musician operating during the 60s who purchased it from new and had it professionally refinished in the 70s. It has since had a period-correct transitional decal added, as the original wasn't present and assumably lost during the original refinish. Interestingly, this guitar had left the factory as a custom colour Black model (as evidenced by the neck pocket and tremolo cavity), special ordered with gold hardware (near all of which has tarnished, but which is still visible to the backs of near all of the metal parts). This is further evidenced by the presence of the original white pickguard (which otherwise would have been tortoiseshell, white was reserved for custom colours on Jazzmaster models).

Original neck stamp retained dating from 4th June 1964 (B width), with its original pickups adorning both 1964 and 1965 hand-pencilled dates respectively. The L serial puts production between 1963-65, so this one was constructed in 1964 and left the factory in '65. It is paired with its original worn but working 'no logo' hard case, supplied from new. It features the desired pre-CBS specs with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with clay dot inlays atop an unbound maple neck.

Near all-original parts, save for 1x pot/wire, 1x tuner, the pickup selector, strap buttons and the odd screw. All other electronics are original, retaining original cloth wires, factory tape and the original factory shielding plate sitting below all of the above (also showing the original factory black finish). Fully serviced by Fontaine Guitars 2 years ago, with a refret with period correct wire (the original frets were worn beyond repair) being undertaken and it is as such playing wonderfully. Truss rod working perfectly, original tremolo arm and no issues at all.

Sounds phenomenal, currently set up with 11s as Jazzmasters with their original bridges should be. Fantastically versatile owing to the dual soapbar pickups and a joy to play.
