Antique Early 1800's Hand Carved Wood American Bald Eagle Folk Art Sign. I have asked many experts and these have offered ideas of this being from a Tavern, Military, Stagecoach, or Steamboat. Where ever it originated from it is STUNNING!! Obviously was hung outdoors do to weathered nature on bottom half, left side especially.
Wood is a tight grain hardwood, best guess is birch. Some original varnish remains on the top half where the weather didn't impact the item as much. Manufactured in two halves obviously. When placed together the total measurement is 23 1/2" wide by 14 1/2" tall.
Feel free to offer ideas as far as what this originated from or ask questions. I acquired it from an auction of a bankrupt antique dealer in Western Missouri so my knowledge is limited to visual and asking other experts.
