This nifty cover was sent by a sailor serving aboard the U.S.S. Vestal(a repair shipto his wife in Troy, New York, U.S.A., on February 16, 1914! The ship was operating around the East Coast of the U.S., or West Indies at the time that this cover was sent. In the spring of that year, she would serve in support of the occupation of Vera Cruz, Mexico!

To continue, the pair of green, 1-Cent, "Washington," issues is in excellent condition! The purple ship cancel is 80-85% complete.

Lastly, as for the condition of the envelope, itself, it's quite good! It's very clean! It's back flap is 95% intact, but does have some little tears in it. There is also a personal stamp of a previous postal history collector on the back. And, the envelope is open on the right side where it appears to have first been opened. Noted imperfections aside, this is still a really neat piece of U.S. Naval postal history!
