This MAGNIFICENT cotton 1860's / 1870's red and white sawtooth wheel quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted, with a rare eclipse-like design. The red color is evenly mellowed throughout, typical of reds of the era.

It measures 78" X 86" and is good condition, with the occasional faint spot and no wear.

The hand quilting is superb, with quilting around the wheel design and in a close grid pattern in the background, all at an even 10-12 stitches to the inch.

The back and hand stitched, rolled binding are white, and the batting is very thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light.

The GRAPHIC DESIGN and LUSH HAND QUILTING make this 19th century COLLECTOR'S QUILT stand out!
