Vintage The White House San Francisco Black Silk Taffeta Velvet Suit Jacket

This antique Victorian era The White House San Francisco black silk taffeta velvet suit jacket dates from 1900. It is made of a black silk taffeta fabric with pleated details, velvet trim on the front and silk soutache braided button trim accents. This beautiful black suit jacket has a fitted tailored tailcoat style with cutaway front, velvet trimmed lapel, long 3/4 length sleeves, black silk rosette button closure on the front, is lined in wool, but missing the original white silk fabric lining and has "The White House San Francisco" renowned upscale department store label still sewn inside. The jacket measures 27 inches long, with a 36 inch chest, 32 inch waist, 19 inch long sleeves and 12 inch back. It is in fair as-is condition needing restoration, with several frayed splits on the silk fabric back top, shoulder sleeve area and is missing the original lining with some silk remaining remnants inside (see close-ups). Good for design, or display. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable art!
