  5. Working Together

    Diagnosis Is Key

Creating ice requires a complex process involving numerous components, such as the water valve, water lines, water filter, thermostats, ice level sensors, and the ice maker. Every component must work together seamlessly to produce and harvest ice. Identifying underlying issues can be challenging, and is why it's important to understand the flow of water to the ice maker and the individual responsibilities of each component in the ice-making process.

This icemaker looks exactly like mine. Will it work?

Many icemakers look similar, but differ in timing, electrical connections, or in functionality. Please ensure you have verified this icemaker is compatible with your model in our Product Guide for optimal performance and your safety.

Where do I find my model number?

On most refrigerators, you'll find the model number on a plate or label on the inside wall. Once located, match your model number to one listed in the Product Guide located in the Product guides and documents section of this listing.

I installed the icemaker. How long should I wait before I get ice?

Most icemakers cycle every 4-8 hours. I would recommend waiting a full 24-hours for the icemaker to get to temperature and get into sync with your refrigerator's cycle.

I replaced the icemaker, but I still have no ice.

Ice makers are a single part in a series of parts that work together to make ice. A water valve delivers the water to the icemaker. Water lines should be inspected for pinches or kinks. Faulty thermostats or boards may interrupt icemaker operation.
