18th Century, Kent, Minster, John Rice, Brass Copperas Token, W.2576, D&W 307/61


A nice example of this rare 18th century token which was issued by John Rice, the owner of the Minster Copperas House, and used to pay copperas pickers. This example is the thin flan variety. Lightly worn and well detailed. Ex Baldwin's vault. Weight 5.27g.

This token is listed in Withers, The Token Book 3 as W.2576 and in Davis & Walters, Tickets and Passes as 307/61. I would grade this token About Very Fine (Sheldon EF45). I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
