This bamboo prunner was designed to cut bamboo poles for pulp factories in Sichuan province China. The bamboo species in Sichuan are mainly Neosinocalamus affinis and other mid-sized Bambusa species. These bamboo poles are usually 5-8 cm in diameter with thin culm wall. In Guangxi province, this tool is used to cut moso bamboo culms which turn out to work well.
The cutting efficiency is 5-6 times that of traditional bamboo cutting tools.
