This neat, color post card from Washington D.C., was sent to Bay City, Michigan, U.S.A., on November 23, 1911! The sender was a sailor serving on the U.S.S. Saratoga, an armored cruiser serving in the Far East! At the time that he sent this mail, it looks like he was on some kind of extended leave, as he had time to visit Washington D.C. Interestingly, he wrote his female relative in German! From other postal history items that I have from him, he used English at other times when writing family!

To continue, outside of its bottom, left corner having been folded over in the past, the green, 1-Cent, "Franklin," issue is in pretty good condition. The, "Washington D.C., Pennsylvania Ave." R.P.O. duplex cancel is pretty fine.

Lastly, as for the condition of the post card, itself, it's fair-good. It's got some noticeable stains on either side. It has some noticeable wear and tear in various places, too, in the form of creases(some quite long). The images on the front are still quite clear, though! Noted imperfections aside, this is a nifty piece of U.S. Naval postal history connected to a German-speaking sailor serving on the U.S.S. Saratoga!
