Description
For sale is a remarkable piece of World War II memorabilia: an authentic lamp used by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Squadron. This lamp features a glass embellished with the imperial chrysanthemum emblem and wing designs, indicative of its significant heritage. Research reveals this lamp was adapted for practical use within the Navy Air Squadron based in Bihoro, Hokkaido, which was operational until 1942 before the base transitioned and eventually became Memanbetsu Airport. This item is a collector’s gem, with its body marked ‘500’ and an authentic eagle-crested oil cap. Although the original globe has been replaced with an ‘Asahi’ branded one and the handle has been reconstructed, it does not detract from its uniqueness and appeal to military enthusiasts and collectors of rare artifacts.
