The Bell Trading Post is founded in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1932 by Jack Michelson and his wife Mildred. The Bell Trading Post honors Jack’s wife, whose maiden name is Bell. Hence, until 1972, they sell “Native American Indian jewelry” at various tourist trading posts through-out the southwestern United States. Their main competitor was Maisel’s Indian Trading Post who merged with Bell Trading Post Company in 1935.  Bell manufactured an enormous amount of jewelry during the Fred Harvey era which were typically stamped with thunder birds, arrowheads, and crossed arrows.
