Synopsis

A middle school girl named Banes Usagi Tsukino makes friends with Luna, a talking black vehicle in Minato, Tokyo, and receives a mystical brooch from Luna that transforms her into Sailor Moon, a warrior sent to defend Earth from bad forces. A group of fellow Sailor Soldiers is put together by Luna and Usagi in an effort to locate their princess and the Silver Crystal. Together with her talking cat companion Artemis, they meet the studious Ami Mizuno, who awakens as Sailor Mercury, the local shrine maiden Rei Hino, who awakens as Sailor Mars, the transfer student Makono Kino, who awakens as Sailor Jupiter, and the young, aspirational idol Minako Aino, who awakens as Sailor Venus. They also become friends with Mamoru Chiba, a high school student who serves as Tuxedo Mask and occasionally helps them.

Usagi and her group learn that they were formerly a part of the ancient moon kingdom known as Silver Millennium. The Moon Kingdom was destroyed as a result of the Dark Kingdom's war against them.
