Originally this panel is from the 19th century and would have formed part of a Carrettu Sicilianu (Sicilian Cart) traditionally used to transport items and also used to transport people at weddings and religious celebrations
Painted with bright colors these carts would have either been pulled by a horse, a donkey or in some cases goats.
This side of a Sicilian cart is composed of two panels depicting a battle from the island's history.
The dimensions of the panel are:
Width: 120 cm/ 47"
Height (on metal rails): 48cm/19"
(on wood part): 32cm/13"
Depth: 13cm/5"
It is in good vintage condition and free from any significant structural issues. There is some wear and old worm which we think adds to its charm and tells its story.
