A rare English Victorian antique solid sterling silver long handled ladle. It is hallmarked for Exeter 1849 with the maker being Robert Williams & Sons (Robert, James & Josiah Williams). It has been superbly designed to what is termed Fiddle Pattern, the terminal has been engraved with a demi eagle and coronet crest used by the White Family. I suspect it is a scruple spoon, used as part of religious ceremonies, having an unusually long handle and tiny bowl. It is in super condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs. It measures approx. 6 inches (15.2cm) long by 0.75 inch (1.9cm) wide and weighs 24 grams. A beautifully made example.
