Description
The Lead series was introduced by Fender to the market in 1979 as a solution to the import competition of cheaper competing products. Featuring a new solid body design, hardtail bridge, and newly designed wiring options that set it apart from traditional Fender products, the Lead series became an attractive choice for a wide range of players.
The Lead III joins the Player series and pays homage to the original model introduced in 1982. It features two high-output Player Series humbuckers, a modern C-shaped neck with medium jumbo frets, a dual toggle switch that doubles as a pickup selector and coil split, and the Lead series' signature double cutaway design.
Color variations include Metallic Purple, classic Olympic White, and Sienna Sunburst. This model is attractive for its unique styling, power, and ease of handling.
