A truly stunning and superbly made oak chair of huge proportions with X frame legs, walnut columns, carved stretchers and a coat of arms with the Latin inscription Industria Atque Fortuna which translates as "by industry and fortune" It has slight elements of AWN Pugin in the design, but I feel it's not Gothic enough to be him, though the quality of the construction is befitting of Webb who manufactured some of Pugin's furniture. This fantastic chair most likely came from a large country house, or even a civic or town hall. It's in excellent condition throughout apart from a slight loss at one corner and on the top rail. It's extremely heavy so collection only from SA44 or will deliver in mainland UK for £75. Measures 47 inches in height to the top of the pediment on the top rail, the seat measures 24 inches wide at the front, 22⅝ inches from front to rear and 18¼ inches in height.                                                          ☆Please see attached photos which form part of the description and if you have any questions drop me a line.
