All used CD's, DVD's and Video Games will have minor surface scratches or marks on the play side. Generally speaking, these marks will have no effect on how the disc plays. Unlike vinyl records, minor scratches, smudges, marks will not affect how the CD sounds. I play every CD I sell to check the quality and I wipe all CD's with a cleaning cloth that is safe to use on discs. I will not sell a CD if there is any issue at all with the sound or or if there is a skip or failure to play any track. If you buy a CD from my store it will almost always have some surface scratches or marks as these CD's are from my personal collection and have been played at least once. I do not resurface my CD's for a number of reasons. I handle all my CD's and vinyl with great care. If lt looks bad to me, I will not sell it.
From the experts: Occasional fine scratches will typically not affect the focus of the laser.
