Here is a relic.  It's a nautical officer's shoulder board for a 3rd officer of the Dutch Navigation Company, Stoomvaart Maatschappij Nederland.  This would date from between 1870 and 1970.  I would put it closer to the 1870 date as it's interestingly with a central core of a sheet of galvanized steel!  It has very sturdy, thick brass wires for fastening it to the uniform.  Now the moths have had a party with this one but for the time being I will leave it in original condition.  It measures 5" tall.  This is a survivor, this one.  The one stripe would indicate 3rd officer, navigation/deck branch.

Good luck bidding and thanks for looking at another auction from The Mighty Atom.
