Fabulous hand-carved figure of Bastet with cobra. Signed by the sculpture on the rear right leg, and with hieroglyphics to the plinth.

Bastet was part cat and part woman, and was adored by Ancient Egyptians as the goddess of fertility, festivity and pleasure.

This is a wonderful object and the natural carved stone is extremely tactile. It would make an excellent addition to any decorative collection. It displays beautifully on a shelf or table, and it has a wonderful sheen in the sunlight.
