Rare short version of the CAV dynamo for AUSTIN 7, only fitted from 1922 to 1923. Apparently, this was in working order 40+ years ago but was removed from the car when the drive gear got damaged. It has since been sitting on a shelf awaiting a new gear. I have no way of testing this at the moment. It is, therefore, being sold as not working, but you might be lucky once the armature is cleaned up.

The original brass cover was badly damaged and split. A recently acquired replacement has been fitted. This has also suffered various splits, etc, but has had a copper rim applied, which holds it together. A suitable period repair for a 100 year old cover.

Brushes, springs, etc, are all there. The centre rod turns smoothly and is not loose, so the bearings wouldn't need to be replaced.
