A used, aluminium front brake plate for the half-width hubs that use 8" brake shoes.
It is in very good physical condition with no welding, no chips, no dents. The rim is good all the way round, the hole on the end of the brake arm and the one for the spindle don't look worn. I can only see one of the brake shoe cam holes, which looks fine, the other having a rather grotty cam in it.  The hole for the brake return spring is pristine.
There is no gauze (37 1059) but the threads for it are good.
There is a Triumph casting number of W1248.

Cosmetically it has not faired so well. There are some scratches of varying depth and the usual discolouration of ageing alloy.  However, I think a buffing wheel will bring back a good shine, leaving any remaining scratches as acceptable for its age.  Please have a good look at the photos so you can see for yourself.

I am confident of the part number of W1255/37-1255 but my research has thrown up some discrepancy for the year, some sources saying 1954 - 57, some saying 1957.  Please examine the photos to be sure it is right for your machine (who knows what has been fitted to it over the years anyway!) with particular respect to the spindle fitment.  My brake plate has a hollow on the outside and an upstanding boss on the inside where the spindle slots through.
