original Goebel Hummel figurine # Hum 48. "Madonna Plaque" by Goebel , Wall Plaque

double crown mark * very early piece

Size about 14.5 cm x 12 cm (about 5 3/4 inches x 4 3/4 inches). TMK 1 "Crown Mark". It has an incised, as well as a stamped, TMK 1 "Crown Mark" on the back. The M.I.Hummel signature is also incised on the back. Initials of Goebel's painter Max Meyer.

This figurine was originally modeled by master sculptor Reinhold Unger in 1936. Rare early version , incised "48." only. This was later changed to "48/II". Very early model with a flat back. This was soon changed to a recessed back. 

This is also the large size, which was withdrawn from production on 31st December, 1984. 

The figurine is well kept and in excellent condition with no damage, chips, crazing, repairs or the likes.
