Beautiful woven silk ribbon bookmark from the 1876 USA Centennial featuring "The Father of Our country" George Washington.   Produced for the 1876 nation's centennial in Philadelphia. Stevengraph Company. Complete with the original yellow tassel still attached.   Framed.  Framed size 4.75" W x 13.75 H x .5 D (approximate dimensions). The rare point of purchase advertisement for Thomas Stevens Coventry & London is attached to the silk bookmark.   900 different designs it claims.  Factory destroyed in the bombing of Coventry during WW2. The motto. The First in Peace, The First in War, The First in the Hearts of his Countrymen.    Inscription states this item was bought at the Centennial Exhibition in 1876.
