Nice large wood furniture piece.   Originally in mission era desk, this draw was removeable to create a separate desk top.   The back pops up where there is a slot for inkwells, pens, letters, ephemera, etc.

The writing surface top picks up to store items inside the lap desk.

Underside of the wood desktop is some early children symbols and wordsnames scratched into the wood.  

There is something like a spice orange paint which is peeling on the front.   Original furniture sticker inside.    Solid piece.   The base corners are solid and itnact.   The slats on the back of the popup are separating, but can just be pushed back.

Entire piece, closed, measures approx 22.5" x 20" x 5" high.
